Abstract
The presence of avian leukosis virus(es) in sera of chicks from commercial flocks can be detected by the Rous sarcoma virus (RSV) genome rescue test, which involves injection of BH-RSV HTC (RSV-transformed hamster tumor cells) two to three weeks after injection of the suspect material into leukosis-free chicks. Appearance of tumors in the recipient chicks is indication of the presence of ALV in serum and correlates well with Cofal tests.
