Abstract

A novel approach for detecting and estimating chirp signals is presented. Based on the state space representation method of circuits and systems, a three-point nonlinear recursive equation which describes chirp signals is obtained. A sliding window least square estimate of both the carrier frequency and the bandwidth, in an AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise) and a Rayleigh fading channel (RFC), are obtained using these results. Also, an autoregressive detector for a chirp signal in a RFC is developed. >
