Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a collection of sensor nodes integrated by battery, small processing unit and sensing devices to sense any parameter and diagnose the system according to applications. Lack of energy, availability and open nature communication make it vulnerable to several security threats. The proposed work comprises the study of a resource depletion attack in WSN which is known as Vampire Attack. We also propose a mitigation technique which first detects the Vampire node and then segregates that node from the sensor network to save the energy of victim nodes. Here, two different approaches of vampire attack have been diagnosed and mitigated using draining rate prediction method.
