Abstract

This letter develops a sequential composite hypotheses test for detecting failure of a decision-directed recursive least square (RLS) adaptive multiuser detector (MUD) and convergence of a blind RLS (BLRS) MUD when used in the downlink of direct-sequence/code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems. Simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the test and to characterize the SIR improvement achievable in a dynamic environment where the number of interferers is time-varying.
