Abstract

Surgical treatment of early cancer has a good prognosis. Prior research reported that gastric occult blood detection can be used to screen early upper gastrointestinal cancer. This paper proposes a gastric occult blood detection (GOBD) capsule system to detect occult blood in gastric juice for screening upper gastrointestinal bleeding and tumor diseases based on colloidal gold immunochromatography. In-vitro and in-vivo experiments are conducted to testify the overall function of the system. Experiments show that all occult blood test results are displayed on the external PC. Results demonstrate that the GOBD capsules in our experiments can detect the occult blood, and send the occult blood information outside from normal saline and animal bodies. This information is then received by external receiver and displayed on a PC.
