Abstract

Set marks in woven fabrics occur when a loom is stopped and restarted. The pick spacing at these areas varies from the rest of the fabric. This paper details a method by which set marks in a fabric can be assessed. The surface profile of the fabric is read with a KES surface tester, and the data are analyzed by fast Fourier transform. Statistical studies validate the results obtained with the FFT analysis and establish the influence of different stoppage times on the degree of set marks formed on the fabric.
