Abstract

The Flohimont and Nichet sections, located in the southern part of the French Ardenne, expose parts of the Fromelennes Formation series (Middle/Upper Givetian - Middle Devonian). This work presents the detailed, bed by bed, stratigraphic columns for the two sections along with data on the macro- and microfauna occurrence and abundance. Characteristic beds and zones are recognized. Correlations between these different sections and the close Cul d’Houille section allow proposing the most complete up to date stratigraphic synthesis for the Fromelennes Formation in the type area.
