Abstract

A 69-year-old Japanese woman with acute myeloid leukemia underwent allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation from a human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched unrelated donor. After transplantation, tacrolimus was not discontinued because of persistent graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) of the liver. EGD performed 2 years after transplantation revealed no esophageal abnormalities except for reflux esophagitis. She described discomfort while swallowing 3 years after transplantation and received a diagnosis of chronic GVHD of the oral mucosa.
