Abstract

Studies of desorption of I − adions from copper into aqueous NaI solution at different temperatures and adions coverages are made by employing the radiotracer technique. In principle, the desorption is controlled by the self-exchange of I − ions. The gross rates of chemical exchange are determined from the first order rate constants of tracer desorption by using the McKay equation. The gross rate is found to increase with increasing coverage as well as concentration of the desorption medium. The order constant of chemical exchange is found to be 1.34.
