Abstract

Desmoplastic fibroma represents a benign, locally aggressive myofibroblastic neoplasm and less than 1% of primary bone neoplasms. The regions of involvement are the mandible, femur, tibia, radius, humerus, and pelvic bones. A man attended the buccomaxillofacial surgery department reporting a nodule in the face. Physical examination revealed an increase in volume in the left zygomatic bone region, painless and with fibroelastic palpation. After a request for complementary exams, computed tomography showed an image of a lesion with about 20 mm of circumference and low density. Ultrasonography showed a hypoechoic image suggestive of an epidermoid cyst. The proposed treatment was the enucleation of the lesion under local anesthesia and sending for anatomopathologic analysis. The diagnosis was desmoplastic fibroma. The patient is in follow-up of 2 years without signs of relapse.
