Abstract

RFQ accelerators have found widespread applications as injectors for high energy accelerators for light and heavy ions as well as for numerous applications where small compact sources of MeV-ions are used. The beam dynamics design procedures have matured, but there is still development because the different applications need special beams which have to be shaped to optimize the performance. Similar developments for the rf-structures especially for heavy ions and high duty factors are under way. New developments are presented and the special features of new RFQs will be discussed.
