Abstract

There are powerful quotes egging us on to embrace failure. LeBron James, a world-renowned basketball superstar, philanthropist, parent, and businessman, asserts, “You can’t be afraid to fail. It’s the only way you succeed.” Wayne Gretzky, a world-class hockey player, unequivocally states, “You miss 100% of shots you don’t take,” clearly conveying that one defaults to failure by inaction. Contemporary Buddhist nun Pema Chodron even shows us how to fail and manage failure in her book Fail, Fail Again, Fail Better: Wise Advice for Leaning Into the Unknown</i> .
