Abstract
High performance polyimide polymers have increasingly replaced metal parts in off-road and automotive equipment. Known for excellent properties at high temperature, load and speed, polyimides have proved their effectiveness in sealing and bearing applications. By taking advantage of polyimide's strength, low deformation under load, low wear rate, self-lubricity and chemical and temperature resistance, the design engineer is able to optimize part and assembly design. Improved performance, weight reduction, and cost savings may be realized.
