Abstract

On the basis of the analysis results of the operation of the electromagnets with the forced control (EMFC), the possibility of the rational matching of their pull and opposing characteristics is illustrated. The differences in the known approaches to designing of the EMFC with different types of circuits, which complicates these design techniques application, were pointed out. The calculation in the hold mode, which is general for all the EMFC, was taken as the basic approach to the EMFC designing by the suggested technique. The calculation formula of the double-winding shell-type electromagnet core diameter was obtained as a result of solving the generalized characteristics by the heating and tripping conditions for the present mode. The electromagnet dimensions and the windings parameters are specified on the basis of the core diameter as well as the holding and starting MMF values, defined in the hold and start modes respectively. The suggested technique is distinct by the more complete consideration of the EMFC parameters and operation conditions. The present technique is recommended for designing devices based on the double-winding shell-type electromagnets with the forced control in case of disconnection of one of the windings in the hold mode.
