Abstract

Portable ultraviolet systems have been shown to effectively disinfect hospital room surfaces. However, the degree of disinfection, as well as treatment time, depends strongly on such factors as the location/orientation of the surface, the size/shape of the room, and the materials on the walls, ceiling, etc. Our objective is to study the use of computer simulations to predict disinfection levels on various surfaces, in order to better design healthcare environments for UV-C disinfection.
