Abstract

Radiology departments play a critical role in driving the change necessary to achieve health equity, the opportunity for all individuals to be as healthy as possible. Radiology is central to patient care and population health management, through screening, diagnostic imaging, and image-guided therapies [ 1 Porembka J.H. Lee R.K. Spalluto L.B. et al. Radiologists’ increasing role in population health management: AJR Expert Panel Narrative Review. AJR Am J Roentgenol. 2022; 218: 7-18 Google Scholar ]. Current existing health care inequities in radiology can contribute to lower quality of care, poorer patient outcomes, and higher costs [ 2 Betancourt J.R. Tan-McGrory A. Flores E. Lopez D. Racial and ethnic disparities in radiology: a call to action. J Am Coll Radiol. 2019; 16: 547-553 Google Scholar ].
