Abstract

The present study deals with the designing and construction of a particle size analyser enabling its User to measure the size of particles belonging to a monophasic pulp.A curve related to particle size analysis can be obtained by interpretation of a density measurement. When realized with the help of a Gamma-Ray densimeter, it makes it possible to observe the evolution of pulp density at the time of particle settling.Firstly, the numerical treatments needed for the elaboration of the particle size curve have been realized on a minicomputer.Secondly, the totality of algorisms needed for particle size measurement are fed into a microprocessor which changes the particle size analyser into an independent equipment, the particle size analyser involved thus becoming a sensor directly fit for use in ore-treatment plants.
