Abstract

A continuous research of design wind speed and wave elements is carried out on the basis of flood control water level for the tunnel project in this paper. Considering a flood control standard of 100-year recurrence period, the wind and waves for this project are mainly analyzed and recommended in accordance with the flood control standard. The results show that: 1) Wind speed and direction are important elements in wave design; 2) the wind direction is determined to be S (SW, SE) after merging the direction of 45° on both left and right sides, then the design wind speeds at 100-year return period on the design high-tide level is about 28.97▒m; 3) an average wave height of 0.5▒m and a wave run-up of about 0.6▒m are recommended under a combined condition of the 100-year return period design high-tide level and the 100-year return period wind speed. The study provides effective supplement for the design of flood control water level in coastal area.
