Abstract
Design systems are infrastructure built for consumers working on applications. A successful one allows consumers in an organization to quickly scale design and development across applications, increase productivity, and establish consistency. Design systems are also products with their own user bases. They must grow, evolve, and address the needs of consumers who are building applications. If a design system becomes stagnant and fails to deliver on its promises of scalability, productivity, and consistency, then consumer adoption will decrease.
