Abstract

A fulleropyrroline derivative bearing a dimer minor groove binder (MGB), suggested by molecular modeling studies, has been synthesized and the effect on duplex or triplex stability has been analyzed. While there was no increased stabilization, it was noticed that DNA photocleavage efficacy was strongly enhanced by the presence of the MGB when compared to the photocleavage performed with a fullerene analogue devoid of MGB.
