Abstract

In this paper, design studies of an electron gun supporting multi-frequency operation in an already proposed dual regime (220/251.5 GHz) coaxial cavity gyrotron is presented. For this third operating frequency of 283 GHz, the cavity mode is chosen as TE 62;38 . Initial design studies of the magnetron injection gun are carried out through our in house code Gyrotron Design Suite version 4.1 (GDSv4.1 2016). Parametric optimization and simulation are carried out using the particle trajectory code ESRAY. These studies confirm that the electron gun designed for the dual regime operation of the coaxial cavity gyrotron can be used to support the third operating frequency of 283 GHz.
