Abstract
The culture of southwest mountainous region as China's marginal culture arouses few researches on its architectural culture. However, it enjoys rich natural ecology such as multi-dimension, ecological vulnerability and climate diversity, and rich human ecology like diversity in ethnic groups, religions and expansion. Thus, the paper, with a case study of the move and construction of the traditional towns in the Three Gorges area, points out the landscape plan and design should start from meeting immigrants' practical needs and creating good living environment. Meanwhile, problems such as ecological environment protection, sustainable development and dissemination of the traditional culture in regions of high cultural and historical interest should also be concerned. Besides, landscape planning strategies are explored from aspects of contour scenery, junction landscape, buildings of cultural interest and greening landscape in the mountainous towns. It is hoped that the research will enlighten the regional landscape creation in the southwestern mountainous region during the rapid urbanization, and enrich the regional architectural culture or even supplement the Chinese culture.
