Abstract

This paper establishes design principles and the concept for recyclable induction motors i.e. motor or machine parts may be reused. Technological issues arising from the following machine components are covered: stator insulation; rotor insulation; stator core; rotor core; stator windings; rotor windings; bearings; shaft and frame. Induction motors designed in this manner should have: higher reliability and availability; lower initial and operating costs; smaller losses and environmental advantages. Required machine standards to achieve these goals are discussed, covering: speed, nominal voltage; capacities; shapes; dimensions; insulation; cores; windings; bearings; shafts and frames.
