Abstract

A novel optimization design method of LLC converter for battery charger applications is proposed in this paper. Wide output voltage range under different load characteristic is considered as the main challenge. Input voltage variation is also taken into the design consideration According to the battery charging characteristics, three operating points are selected for the optimum design according to the preferred charge process. Detailed design consideration is described. A thorough analysis of design procedure is performed. A 1.5 kW GaN HEMT based prototype circuit with an output voltage range of 250 V to 420 V was built to verify the analysis.
