Abstract
In this paper, design of wireless stepper motor controller using Verilog Hardware Description Language HDL is proposed and implemented on Altera Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). FPGA controller is used to control the stepper motor, Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) method is used to rotate the motor through the desired angle speed and direction. Besides, features incorporated in the design are rotate the motor in directional to pause the rotation, to execute the rotation with varying speed in desired direction, return to zero and zero position detection. Stepper motor driver and magnetic sensor are used in this design. The stepper motor driver is to control the angle and direction of the stepper motor while the magnetic sensor is for the positioning application. Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) is used in this work to exchange the data with the ZigBee module, conversion of bytes need to be design in FPGA using Verilog HDL. The prototype is built and verified for its various functions.
