Abstract

Sheet beam electron gun are need of the hour for compact terahertz Travelling Wave Tube (TWT) and EIK (Extended Interaction Klystron). In this paper, a planner sheet beam electron gun with Periodic Cusped Magnet (PCM) focusing is presented, and the structural parameters of this electron gun are optimized to get desired current. With proper optimization a sheet beam of cross section $\pmb{1.68mm\times0.2mm}$ was achieved with 50mA current at a beam voltage of 18.4kV. Closed short periodic cusped magnetic system consisting of miniature permanent magnets and pole pieces have been used for transporting the sheet electron beam. The simulation results shows a PCM focused laminar sheet beam.
