Abstract

To facilitate low-power operation, this paper has proposed a novel method for wavelet filter design in analog domain. For the purpose of physical implementation, the wavelet base is approximated by rational function, in which a mathematical approximation model is constructed and the quantum genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimization problem. Then, the fellow-the-leader-feedback filter structure is employed to synthesize the approximated analog wavelet base. The Marr wavelet is selected as an example to illustrate the design process. A seventh-order Marr wavelet filter is designed using SMIC 0.18μm CMOS technology. Simulation results show that the proposed method can give a stable analog wavelet filter with high approximation accuracy and low power consumption.
