Abstract

Optimization of Water Distribution Network (WDN) is a NP hard type and extremely complex problem due to non-linear relationship between Flow and Head loss and discrete pipe diameters. Benchmark problem Hanoi Network is solved herewith by Heuristic methodology using Velocity as Implicit Function by using Candidate diameters obtained from Critical Path Concept. The simulation is performed using EPANET Software. The results obtained are compared with other meta-heuristic methods like Genetic Algorithm, Simulated Annealing and GA-ILP method. The present study concludes that the results are close to optimal values reported in literature in minimum number of iterations.
