Abstract

Abstract Some laws of similitude for designing wastewater treatment pilot plants are derived from fluid dynamic similitude and equal design parameters between model and prototype. Two pilot plants were operated to investigate the design method and offer operation experience. The results have shown that in the physical configuration design of a pilot unit we should select the proper law of similitude according to the unit's function, while equipment design needs further study. Design methods and operation problems of four different units, namely, equalization, coagulation, sedimentation, and aeration, are especially discussed in this paper.
