Abstract

This paper introduces an upper-layer protocol emulator especially designed for an SDR (software defined radio) prototype of IEEE 802.11g and Bluetooth. The software package is able to manage two SDR devices simultaneously and thus become a powerful tool in debugging SDR devices. With the multi-thread technology, it is straightforward to be upgraded to support a number of SDR devices in a test bed for our wireless SDR network. Built in with some unique features, it is more convenient to use than the commercial Widcomm BTE test tool. The architecture of the SDR prototype is briefly introduced. Possible application scenarios of the upper-layer protocol emulator are also presented.
