Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, we propose a new scheme to construct Raptor codes that can provide unequal error protection (UEP) and unequal recovery time (URT) properties. We use joint optimisation of UEP‐LDPC codes and UEP‐LT codes to improve the performance of more important bits (MIB), and derive unequal density evolution (UDE) formulas over binary erasure channels (BEC). Using the UDE formulas, we optimise the UEP‐Raptor codes. For the finite length case, we compare our UEP‐Raptor codes with the previous UEP‐Raptor code. Simulation results show that, compared with the previous UEP‐Raptor code, the proposed UEP‐Raptor codes can get better performances of both MIB and less important bits (LIB).
