Abstract
Lateral regulator stability algorithm for Wulung PA-07 has been designed using Simulink/Matlab. This system is designed using pole placement and linear quadratic regulator method in order to deal with high turbulence environment. The turbulence is modelled by passing a band limited white noise through Dryden turbulence function. The LQR is experienced give a better transient performance compared to the pole placement method. It produces maximum roll angle around 3.6°, while the maximum roll angle of the pole placement method is 15.2°. On the other hand, the LQR system with a rudder as an input produces 1.76° for roll angle, which is around 20% lower compared to the maximum roll angle produced by pole placement method. In addition, the control input between LQR and pole placement method is similar, except the former shows the better performance compared to the latter. To sum up, based on the simulation result the LQR method capable to be maintain Wulung PA-07 stability on high turbulence environment.
