Abstract

A novel planar lowpass filter with a high attenuation and an ultra wide stopband is proposed. By using three radial stubs and one slotted pattern, seven transmission zeros appear in the stopband. Moreover, the stopband bandwidth of the lowpass filter can be conveniently altered by controlling characteristic impedances of the connecting lines and radial stubs. In order to validate the circuit design, a compact microstrip lowpass filter with the central frequency of 2.636 GHz and rejection level greater than 30 dB is fabricated. As a result, theoretical and measured results match well with each other, and the measured rejection bandwidth at 30 dB is 151.8%.
