Abstract

An antenna that mainly consists of a square dual-layer dielectric substrate and a metal patch etched with a bowtie-shaped slot is proposed. The bowtie-shaped and elliptical structures on both sides are used to extend the electrical length and hence yield a miniaturization effect. Simulated results show that the 5G frequency band of 3.3-3.6 GHz can be achieved in the condition of| S11|<-10 dB. A good radiation pattern with low back lobe and low cross-polarization level is achieved over the entire operating frequency band. Owing to the multi-layer printed circuit board (PCB) technology, the proposed structure is simple and at the low manufacturing cost. The antenna with good performances can be used in the 5G base station.
