Abstract

In this paper, a design of dual-band dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for both sub-6 GHz and Millimeter-Wave (mm-wave) 5G applications is presented. Two-Cylinder Dielectric Resonators (CDRs) are embedded for generating two different operating resonances. The small CDR with relative permittivity of 10 is fed by a rectangular slot on the ground plane, while a 50Ω coaxial cable feeds the large CDR with relative permittivity of 6.15. The proposed antenna is simulated, where the structure resonates at two different frequencies. The first resonance results from the large CDR at 2.4 GHz with a realized gain of 6.3 dBi. On the other hand, the small CDRA resonates at 28 GHz, achieving a realized gain of 12.1 dBi.
