Abstract

The wireless communication systems is now not only demands for mobile communication, but also for many local communication networks of office, Homes, Industries etc. This demand and the Quality of Services is restricted due to the limitations of current (traditional) wireless communication system for limited availability of Frequency resources, Channel capacity, Bandwidth, complexity and Physical size of the hardware. The Multi-Input-Multi-Output (MIMO) is looking as a new wireless communication system which overcomes the boundaries of conventional communication system and is capable of handling multiuser and high transmission bit rates which is the need of today. Addressing the proposed model for Alamouti's STBC based MIMO Encoding and Decoding communication system with two transmit and two receive antennas using Xilinx FPGA Devices. The algorithm is proposed to implement Alamouti code for transmitting two data inputs using MIMO Encoding and correspondingly recovering of transmitted data using MIMO Decoding at the receiver end and verify the results using FPGA devices of the Xilinx to investigate for the Data rate, reliability of the communication link, bit error rate (BER), optimized utilization of physical resources to reduce the hardware complexity. MIMO ensures the better signals quality even in the absence of any channel signals and efficiently handles the multiuser traffic by employing the multiple channels.
