Abstract

While synthesizing a planar drag-link between positions of unity velocity can be reduced to a problem of synthesizing a planar crank-rocker, this is not the case with a spherical drag-link. Synthesis equations for designing spherical drag-links between positions of unit velocity ratio are derived from equations previously obtained for matching two prescribed velocity ratios. It has been shown that the loci of both crank pins are spherical ellipses and great circles. An example is given.
