Abstract

AbstractA design of four-element hexagonal-shaped MIMO antenna is proposed in this chapter. This antenna finds its applications in significant wireless communication bands such as 5G n79 band (4.4 GHz–5 GHz), WLAN channels (5 GHz–5.9 GHz), and 5G Wi-Fi (6 GHz). Each radiator consists of a smooth curved hexagonal patch having partial ground. The individual radiator is operating from 4.6 GHz to 6.7 GHz. Each element is placed orthogonally to form a four-element MIMO antenna array. The MIMO antenna is operating from 4.4 GHz to 6.6 GHz, having minimum isolation of -13 dB. To improve the isolation, decoupling structures are introduced in the ground layer. The antenna is operating from 3.2 GHz to 6.6 GHz, exhibiting high isolation between opposite antenna pairs and accepted isolation between adjacent antenna pairs. The overall dimension of the antenna is 60 * 60 * 1.57 mm3, which is built on Rogers 5880 substrate. The performance metrics of MIMO elements are calculated, and they exhibit satisfactory results.KeywordsHexagonal radiatorWLANWi-FiFour-element MIMOHigh isolationECC
