Abstract

Transportation systems aid in the safe and reliable delivery of people to their everyday destinations, such as employers, schools, nutritious food sources, and health care facilities. For those who are unable to drive, such as those without access to private vehicles, children, people with disabilities, and the elderly, public transportation plays an important role. Buses, light rail, and subways are among the various modes of public transportation available. The aim of introducing or enhancing public transportation is to improve public transportation access and usage while reducing car miles and traffic congestion. In this chapter, huge potential efforts are made to study the complete background of the public transport system and to provide the better design of the smart public transport assist system in Chennai is discussed. The Chennai Metro, although falling far short of its planned number of passengers, is regarded the most successful project, and it enjoys various tax incentives not available to the bus system, which handles at least five times as many trips.
