Abstract

Abstract In order to create a new product – a smart forestry cableway, a market survey was conducted among 118 companies belonging to the private sector and dealing with the exploitation of massive wood. Most of the respondents were owners of articulated forestry tractors, agricultural tractors equipped with forestry, crane equipment and various cableways. The aim of the study was to identify the main characteristics, which the buyer considers when purchasing the future product, for developing a smart prototype model. We collected information concerning the main elements that are influencing the design of a new product like: access to spare parts, easy to repair and to use, the quality of new product, efficiency, price, access to service, versatile and with many accessories, robustness, reliability, affordable parts and fast delivery, technical support, low machine consumption and comfort.
