Abstract

An improved design procedure of small resonant array comprising of longitudinally displaced shunt slots on the broader wall of the rectangular waveguide has been described. The theory has been presented for the self and active admittance of the slot and consequently the resonant length has been computed. The external mutual coupling has been taken into account for characterising the slot in the array environment. The array has been designed by adjusting the lengths and the displacements of the slots from the centre line of the broadwall in order to realize the conductance distribution corresponding to the aperture distribution obtained through pattern synthesis. Finally, the experimental results of single slot and an end fed resonant array of ten slots have been presented and compared with the theoretical results.
