Abstract

Global Positioning System (GPS) is widely used for finding the shortest path from source to destination based on a local map database, as real-time road situations are not taken into consideration in GPS. Vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) based navigation system automatically searches for the route that yields minimum traveling delay. The system uses collected data to provide navigation service to drivers. In order to maintain the security and privacy, a Trusted Authority (TA) is able to obtain user's real identity. However, the centralized approach for route searching is not scalable for large cities. Probability based broadcasting approach eliminates privacy issues and provides scalability. Thus, propose broadcasting approach provides two ways to determine a retransmit probability: 1) fixed (V2I) and 2) one-hop distance (V2 V). Broadcasting approach also eliminates broadcast storm problem with reasonable delay and high delivery rate.
