Abstract

The paper discusses the design issues of a surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter and multiplexer module including simulation, synthesis methods, manufacturing, and packaging topics. For simulations, two aspects including the electrical circuit model and acoustic theorem to simulate the performance of a SAW resonator are provided. For the synthesis method, the topologies and design ideas for the SAW filter and multiplexer are introduced. Finally, the realization issues, including material choosing, SAW resonator physical size determining, and packaging problems are also discussed. From designing to manufacturing, some topics deserve to be studied to improve the performance of the SAW filter module. The paper lists these issues and gives a brief introduction to each topic.
