Abstract

In metro-access optical network, reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs) are required. A ROADM based on coarse wavelength division multiplexer (CWDM) and microring resonators (MRRs) has been proposed and demonstrated. The simulation and performance analysis of ROADM system are carried out by using beam propagation method (BPM) and finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD). CWDM based on multimode interference (MMI) principle is designed. A series of MRRs can make up optical switch array with over 28dB switching ratio.
