Abstract

Power Line Carrier (PLC) communication presents an appealing and economical solution for many monitoring systems. SSC (Spread Spectrum Carrier) technology can spread the transmitting bandwidth of the signal so widely that it has attractive features of better anti-interference capability and higher reliability, so it is more suitable for unfriendly low-voltage PLC application than other modulation methods. Firstly, this paper gives a brief introduction of a street lamp monitoring and communicating system; secondly, it describes the structure of the node controller and discusses some key problems such as carrier frequency, wave trap coil and software to improve the performance of low-voltage PLC communication; finally, the experimental result is listed which looks promising for deeper research and application.
