Abstract

1. The basic design principles presented can be used when developing optimal designs of reinforced panels. 2. The contact strength of the reinforced panel with monolithic concrete is determined in the tensile zone of the structure mainly by the effect of shear stresses and in the compressed zone by tensile and shear stresses. Therefore, the use of concrete keys is most effective in the tensile zone and reinforcement anchors in the compressed zone; in the presence of alternating loads it is recommended to use both types of strengthening the contact. 3. Temperature and moisture effects occurring during manufacture of the reinforced panels can lead to the development of through cracks over the entire section of the panel normal to the longitudinal axis, or cleavage cracks along the reinforcement rods; in both cases the reinforced panels become defective. Therefore a sparing steam-curing regime should be used. 4. The introduction of the apparent calculated modulus of elasticity of reinforcement makes it possible to calculate rather simply the second group of limit states of precastmonolithic structures. 5. When designing precast-monolithic structures it is necessary to limit the value of prestressing in the reinforcement according to Eq. (5) in order to prevent plastic deformations under working loads.
