Abstract

Wireless communication is exceeding to an advent extend in the day-to-day life such as effective technology and delivery methods. There are different types of conventional antennas which can be used for transmission, among those an individual MicrostripPatch Antenna (MPA) has a metal foil called Patch and Ground Plane (GP)mounted on either side the mounted on the PCB surface (printed circuit board). Here, the slots are used for increasing the surface current throughout the patch evenly. The designed antenna structure has a Rectangular patch on Flame Retardant-4 (FR-4) substrate and the input is given through amicrostrip feeding. Split Ring Resonator (SRR)act as adistributed inductor-capacitor circuit (LC circuit). This Lumped resonator circuit has high quality factor with an electrically small LC resonator. The overall dimension of this designed antenna is 27×23×1.68mm3. It radiates at 5.2 GHz Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) frequency. Here, the improvements between the antenna with and without SRR have been noted. Therefore, the designed antennawith SRR provides 60% and 30% improvement in Return loss and Bandwidth respectively.
