Abstract

In order to cover a wide frequency band and meet the demand of multi-band, a microstrip antenna with some MEMS switches was designed by using the reconfigurable technology and fractal technology. Four MEMS switches were symmetrically loaded in the microstrip antenna. By controlling the states of the switches, the surface current distribution will be changed and then the operating frequency will be widened. For further broadening the bandwidth and increasing the gain, the antenna was designed as a meander-line structure by using the fractal method. After using software HFSS to simulate, the results show that the reconfigurable microstrip antenna can work at L, C and X band, the gain is more than 4. 85dB with good radiation characteristics. So it can meet the needs of ultra wideband microstrip antennas.
