Abstract

A copper coin shaped quintuple band-notched UWB antenna with square hole is introduced in this paper. Based on the methods of loading parasitic elements and etching slots, the antenna obtains five band notched characteristics to suppress the interference from WiMAX(3.3-3.7GHz), INST (4.5-4.8 GHz), WLAN(5.15-5.825 GHz), X-band(7.25-7.75 GHz) and ITU band (8.01-8.5 GHz) in UWB communication systems by etching three types of curved slots and a split elliptical ring slot in the patch, and loading a pair of C shaped stubs near the feed line. The results show that the designed antenna operating from 2.53-10.58 GHz, is able to reject the frequency bands centred at 3.5 GHz, 4.5 GHz, 5.5 GHz, 7.6 GHz and 8.4 GHz. Meanwhile, it has relatively omnidirectional radiation patterns with a gain above 1.2 dBi in non-notch bands. The proposed antenna with size of 31*32mm2 is simple in structure, and it can meet the requirements of miniaturization and suppressing ot-her narrowband communication systems in UWB system.
