Abstract
Permanent magnet vernier motor (PMVM) usually operates with higher frequency due to the higher pole-pair number compared with conventional permanent magnet synchronous motors. Therefore, PMVM suffers from higher winding eddy current loss (WECL). In this paper, the analytical method for calculating the WECL of PMVM is derived considering the trapezoidal slot, based on which the PMVM is designed. Two-dimensional finite element analysis is adopted to verify the accuracy of the derived analytical calculation.
